Shipping & Delivery

The quoted price during the checkout process includes the handling charges.
A flat rate of 12$ is available for expedited parcel orders. Less expensive shipping methods may be offered depending on your geographical location. XPressPost shipping will be offered during the checkout process. Again, rates will vary based on your location.

We can also ship your order on your UPS or Fedex account. Simply select any shipping method and write a note in the shipping comments box.

Continental USA
For our southern neighbors, the shipping calculator will provide you an estimate.  If you need courier service, let us know.  Note that courier service to the USA can be quite expensive.

Other Destinations

The computed price is for international small packet airmail (not traceable). If you wish to use other delivery methods (Fedex International, UPS, etc.), ask us for a quotation.  Note that we reserve ourself the right not to ship or transact with your country if we had bad experience with previous orders or if your country's import policy makes it too complex for us to handle the transaction.

We can ship to most international countries. The automated checkout process will not allow you to complete the order if your country is not in our database. Please use the "Contact Us" link in the "Information" box for a quotation. We will try to find the best solutions for your order.

What Information Do We Collect?

We collect information from our site users at different points on our Web site:

Registration

If you decide to register with optimal-microsystems.com, we'll ask for your name, address, country and email.

We use the information that you provide to us during registration to maintain your online cart and order history.

Online Ordering

If you place an order online, we need to know your name, email address, mailing address, credit card number, and expiration date. This allows us to process and fulfill your orders and keep you up-to-date on the status of your order.

Emails, Including Special Offers & Site Updates

If you are registered with optimal-microsystems.com, we will send you emails only if you registered to our newsletter feature.  Otherwise, you will not receive e-mails from us unless it is related to your order.

Web Statistics

We also monitor site traffic and usage patterns to better determine what we think you'd be interested in viewing. This also helps us to improve our Web site. We use the statistics generation tool from our web service provider and from Google.  Our commerce system also keeps a session information when you add items to a online cart.

Do We Share Your Data With Anyone?

We will not share your information in any ways. We will not provide any other organizations with your personal information, except the credit card center when we process your order.

Note that web site links that we provide for your convenience may require you to register or provide personal information.  We are not responsible for those web sites use of your personnal information.

How We Protect Your Security

We take every precaution to make sure that your online experience with us is safe. We're committed to making sure that your data is secure. That's why whenever you place orders or access any sensitive data, such as your account information, we use a secure server which encrypts all information that you input before it is sent to us. This secure server software (known as Secure Sockets Layer or SSL) is the industry standard for secure commerce transactions and all of your personal information (including credit card number, name and address) is encrypted to guard against it being read by any third party. To further ensure that your data is kept safe, we have added the extra layer of protection with usernames and passwords. We make sure that when you're retrieving your personal information and/or placing an order, that you're required to enter your password and username as an extra precaution.

We use our web host services provider for the SSL layer.

How Do I Update Or Change My Information?

If you would like to modify your profile, please log in the system and make the required changes.  If you really want to be deleted from our system, e-mail us and we will clear all associated data regarding your account.  

Orders processed in our online store along with paper receipts will be kept in our files for government audit purposes as required by law.

Returns & Replacements

You have 15 days from the day you receive the marchandise to request a return or exchange. After that the sale is final. All returns must be pre-authorized. We will accept only unused items in their original boxes for exchanges. Due to the nature of our products, if you used the product (especially if you modified the board, re-programmed boot code, etc.) we cannot accept returns. 

You are responsible for the cost of returning the products. Reimbursment is made once we receive the items. A re-stocking fee between 15% and 35% may apply when returning a product that was purchased in quantities of 2 or more. You should contact us to obtain a RMA number prior to shipping your product for a return

Ordering

We fill all in-stock orders within 24-48 hrs. Once a shipment is released, you will receive an email with the Canada Post tracking number. Allow some time for the tracking numbers to be updated in their system. We will hold orders until all parts are in stock.

If an item is out of stock it will say so in the shopping cart. If you would like us to ship a partial order, please give us a note in the comment section during the checkout process. Back ordered items will be shipped using the same method as the main order so additional shipping charges will apply. We will only charge the 3$ handling charges once for each order, so backordered items will only be charged for the shipping.

We validate all orders manually and will ensure that the shipping charges are correct. We will contact you as soon as possible to confirm strange orders such as a 20$ kit shipped with a super-express overnight shipping costing 50$. If that's what you want, we have no problems, but we will just make sure... 

Payment, Pricing & Promotions

We try to keep pricing and stock status information as accurately as possible.  However, mistakes may occur.  Once your order is placed, it is reviewed by a human (smarter than scripts) and we ensure that everything makes sense.  If we find that we overcharged you, we will correct our mistake.  However, if the price of an item was incorrect in our system, we will contact you, explain the situation and we reserve the right to cancel the transaction.  You would not incur any fees should this happen.

Updating Account Information

You may update your account information by logging in.  If you have any problems, let us know, we can fix it.  However, if you placed an order and discover that the delivery or contact information is incorrect, changing it in the system will not modify the order.  You better contact us to ensure everything is updated and that your order is processed correctly.
